Hospice Lennox and Addington

Our address is 91 B Dundas St East, across from the large red Gibbard furniture factory. We hold our Board meetings here, our palliative care courses and our bereavement support groups. Please stop in to visit us. Our sharing room is always open for quiet reflection, and access to our lending library is available.

Hospice Lennox and Addington provides palliative care and support to those in our community who are diagnosed with a terminal illness. Our trained volunteers provide hours of care and compassion at no expense to the client. These services can be provided in the home, the hospital or in a nursing care facility.

Referrals to the program can be made by anyone, including family, friends and/or health care professionals.

Hospice L&A is a registered non-profit organization funded by the Ministry of Health, personal donations, memorials and our own fundraising projects.

Mission Statement
“Hospice Lennox and Addington is a community based volunteer visiting service dedicated to meeting the needs of individuals and their families who are facing the crisis of the terminal phase of their illness. Hospice Lennox and Addington will assist these people to remain in their own home longer or to die at home if they so choose. For individuals unable to remain at home, our volunteers will continue needed support throughout hospitalization.”

Goals
   • To provide a volunteer visiting service for seriously ill persons and their families       in order to make the time remaining as meaningful and satisfying as possible.
   • To be advocates for persons with life threatening illness, terminally ill persons       and their families, emphasizing the importance of their emotional, spiritual,       social and physical needs.
   • To promote a loving, supportive and positive environment, in which family and       friends can say good-bye.
   • To provide follow-up and support for the family after the death occurs.
   • To foster a co-operative spirit between community and/or other available       resources.
   • To promote the concept of Hospice care through public education.
